Two Simple One Layer Cards – Focus on Backgrounds

I have a lot of fun trying new ideas from the class that I’m taking. Today I was making my own backgrounds on one layer cards.

It takes time to create your own background but the possibilities are endless.

At first I tried iron-off embossing and watercoloring. You need bold stamps to make the writing or image look clear. My collection of stamps is too limited in this respect. But I managed to make a composition of Hello and clouds. I used Distress Inks (faded jeans and tumbled glass), a brush and lots of water for watercoloring.

For the second card I have done a lot of inking with the help of masking tape. I chose only 4 colors of Distress Ink: mowed lawn, tumbled glass, squeezed lemonade and wild honey. Finally I added stamping with black archival ink.

Looking forward to the next days of the class!
