Tim’s 12 Tags of 2014 – July

This month Tim gives a great inspiration for sea and underwater theme and different uses of distress products. I had a great time playing with new techniques creating this tag.

I didn’t have any themed die-cuts so I just cut the shapes by hand from some cardstock. I think that this is a good solution because you can get the size you need for the project. I liked the idea of running some clear plastic through Big Shot with an embossing folder. And I made a note for myself to experiment more with embossing different materials.

The sand was the most fun part. I didn’t have all the ingredients suggested by Tim so I had to find my own recipe. So I mixed up Glossy Accents, Crackle Paint, Distress Embossing Powder and Distress Glitter. I put small seashells on while the paste was still wet and it acted as a glue.

Imitating Sand With Distress Products

For the seahorse I experimented with sprinkling clear and black embossing powder randomly on the shape freshly colored with Distress Inks. Applying some dark ink shades after heat embossing gave a beautiful resist effect. I love it.

  1. Love it! Especially the addition of the clear pearl “bubbles”! What a great tag.
